Film Slitting
Definition:
Slitting takes large master rolls of plastic film and precisely cuts them into narrower rolls, each tailored to a client’s exact length and width requirements.
Applications:
-
Agriculture: Egg belting, manure belting
-
Electrical: Insulation wraps, dielectric layers
-
Packaging: Protective and decorative films for consumer goods
-
Industrial Manufacturing: Laminating, die-cutting, and composite layering
-
Specialty Applications: Contact as needed
Specs & Notes:
-
Widths from 2" to 94"
-
Max outside diameter 24"
-
Tight tolerances for repeatability and clean edges

Sheeting
Definition:
Sheeting converts continuous rolls into flat, uniform sheets ready for stacking, die-cutting, or further processing.
Applications:
-
Fiberglass & Composites: Lay-up layers and release sheets
-
Printing & Labeling: Printable PET and PVC substrates
-
Archival & Preservation: Crystal-clear protective sheets for artwork and documents
-
Industrial Use: Rigid sheets for tooling or insulation layers
Specs & Notes:
-
Square cuts up to 60" × 60"
-
Custom sheeting up to 72" wide × 120" long
-
Ideal for flat-bed operations and downstream automation

Fabric Slitting (Hot Knife)
Definition:
Hot knife slitting seals the edges of woven or non-woven fabrics as they’re cut, preventing fray and maintaining dimensional stability.
Applications:
-
PET & Nylon Fabrics: Reinforcement layers in composites, filtration, and acoustic components
-
Consumer Goods: Interior reinforcement fabrics and product liners
-
Specialty Manufacturing: Contact as needed
Specs & Notes:
-
Precision thermal sealing during cut for clean, stable edges
-
Suitable for lightweight to medium-weight technical textiles

Materials We Work With
PET (Polyester)
Strong, clear, and dimensionally stable; excellent for insulation, packaging, and lamination.
PVC (Rigid)
Durable and formable; used in electrical insulation, signage, and protective barriers.
HDPE
Lightweight and chemical-resistant; ideal for agricultural and industrial liners.
Nylon
Abrasion-resistant with tensile strength; used in filtration and specialty components.
Frequently Asked Questions
What types of plastic film does KRS Plastics work with?
We process and distribute PET (polyester), rigid PVC, HDPE, and nylon films with additional specialty substrates available on request.
What’s the difference between film slitting and sheeting?
Slitting converts large rolls into narrower rolls for specific widths, while sheeting cuts film into flat, uniform sheets. KRS does both in-house for precision and efficiency.
What are your order minimums and setup costs?
To keep our materials accessible to businesses of all sizes, our standard minimum is $500. Some exclusions apply based on machine capacity. We’ll review your project details to quote accurately.
Do you keep materials in stock, or are they all made to order?
We stock a wide range of our best-selling PET films, so we can ship faster. Custom orders for PVC, HDPE, and nylon are available as needed.
What industries does KRS Plastics serve?
We supply films to industries including agriculture, tire & rubber, electrical, die cutting, lamination, fiberglass, composites, packaging, and archival preservation plus more niche uses, like reeds in duck calls.
What are your typical lead times?
Stocked materials ship quickly within 2 weeks. Custom orders depend on material and gauge, but we’ll confirm timelines upfront to keep your process moving.
Can you handle small-batch or prototype orders?
Yes. Our $500 minimum makes it possible to run smaller or trial batches before scaling up to full production.
What tolerances do you maintain?
Precision is the point. We hold tight tolerances on every run, verified by hands-on checks at each stage of production.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We serve manufacturers on five continents and coordinate reliable freight solutions for both domestic and international customers. We maintain both import and export bonds with our freight forwarding companies.
How does KRS ensure quality?
Every job is checked against the client’s exact specifications. It’s why our repeatability rate stays high and our waste rate stays low.
Can you recommend which film or thickness fits my application?
Absolutely. We’ll review your environment, temperature, and performance needs to match the right film for durability, clarity, and cost efficiency. Our 40 years experience gives us vast knowledge in our product line.
What makes KRS different from other converters?
We’re built on consistency, not claims. Three generations deep, we keep our leadership on the floor, our materials in stock, and our promises realistic.
Do you offer custom packaging or labeling?
Yes. We can label by spec, product code, or customer ID, whatever makes your workflow easier and your logistics cleaner.
What’s your sustainability policy?
Over 99%. We design our processes to minimize waste and maximize efficiency because sustainability starts with good systems.
